Pureshooter.net Basketball Competitions

Baseball has long held the coveted position of America’s pastime because playing ball or catch in the park in the good old summertime is what America has done with its leisure time before TV and the current video game craze. But that could be changing because of the emergence of a new game called PURESHOOTER.NET.

To the purest, baseball is a game of strategy to be much admired because of its complexity, but too slow and tedious to capture the imagination of America’s young fans that have become addicted to instant gratification via reality-based video games.

Like playing catch, PURESHOOTER.NET is an indoor/outdoor sports activity that is attached to a major league, television entertainment sport. The sport is basketball.

Unlike playing catch, the game of PURESHOOTER.NET is all about that magic Zen moment when your basketball rips the cords and your inner voice says, “Yes, all net; I’m a pure shooter.”

Basketball enthusiasts of all ages and sizes are experiencing that special feeling all across America. The parking lots and driveways of urban, suburban and rural America are dotted with basketball goals. Many of the goals are adjustable to accommodate the kids and codgers who may not have the range of an NBA All-Star. But guess what, these players are experiencing the thrill (instant gratification) of ripping the net and thinking “That was perfect. I may not be ready for a pro contract but I am a pure shooter.”

Now, thanks to Bob Swan of Lawrence, Kansas, this national (hey, let’s go shoot some hoops) sports phenomenon has been organized into a challenging and comprehensive test of a player’s ability to shoot the ball from every position on the offensive end of the court. And the game has a scoring system that always identifies the winner as the most consistently accurate shooter in the contest. Coaches and physical education teachers have endorsed the game because it focuses on what is arguably the most important fundamental of the game, shooting the ball accurately.

FYI: A PURESHOOTER.NET contest may be coming to your neighborhood soon. The organizers of PURE SHOOTER.NET, in cooperation with America’s coaches and physical education teachers, plan to organize local, regional and, ultimately, a national PURESHOOTER.NET championship. A phenomenon that is sure to make basketball America’s new national pastime.
