HOW TO PLAY

Pureshooter.net Website Fundamentals

PURESHOOTER.NET is a 40-shot game of individual shooting from most locations on the court with 100 possible points (Pure Shooter 100), from a lay-up to midrange to treys around the arc in a series of semicircles, finishing at the free throw line. The game begins with a lay-up and then nine shots AROUND THE KEY, moving up the right side of the lane, around the top of the key, and down the left side, ten shots with a possible total of 20 points. Next there are 10 shots around the INNER ARC (inside and within three feet of the three-point line), each worth 2 points for a possible total of 20 points, followed by 10 three-point shots around the OUTER ARC for a possible total of 30 points.

The game is finished at the line with 10 FREE THROWS for a possible total of 10 points. Thus the 40 shots have a perfect score of 80 points. There are an additional 20 possible bonus points, for a possible grand total of 100 points.

BONUS POINTS are awarded as follows. A maximum of 5 bonus points for each of the following: making all 10 shots AROUND THE KEY, 10 two-pointers around the INNER ARC, 10 treys around the OUTER ARC, and 10 FREE THROWS. There are 3 bonus points for making 8 shots, 4 bonus points for making 9 shots, and 5 bonus points for making all 10 shots in each category.

These 40 shots must be taken within a reasonable time. Initially this time limit shall be 4 minutes. There will be at least one ball retriever and one scorer for each individual’s turn to expedite the flow of the game and accuracy of the scoring. The route of the shooter on the court is shown in the DIAGRAM OF THE GAME.

TIEBREAKERS are determined at the line. Pure shooters tied for the highest total points will each shoot 10 FREE THROWS, repeating the tiebreaker until the winner is determined.

Any pure shooter who hits at least 8 of 10 three-point shots is automatically entered in the PURESHOOTER.NET Three-Point contest, and anyone who makes at least 9 of 10 free throws is eligible for the PURESHOOTER.NET Free Throw competition.

The PURESHOOTER.NET Three-Point Champion is determined by shooting 10 shots spread equally around the OUTER ARC. The pure shooter making the most treys wins. TIEBREAKERS are determined by repeating the 10 shots, alternating direction on the OUTER ARC, until a winner is determined.

The PURESHOOTER.NET Free Throw Champion is determined by the most free throws made out of 15 attempts. TIEBREAKERS are determined by most consecutive free throws made in a tiebreaker round where at least one pure shooter makes one free throw more than the other competitor(s).

AROUND THE KEY The game begins with a lay-up and moves up the right side of the lane, around the top of the key, and down the left side, ten shots worth 2 points each for a possible total of 20 points.

INNER ARC Next the shooter moves left to right shooting 10 shots inside and within three feet of the three-point line worth 2 points each for a possible total of 20 points.
